Pupils in Reception – Yr 6 can sign up to take part in a variety of after school clubs each term.  We run a wide variety of clubs including; swimming, sports, cooking, homework, karate and drama.  Most clubs run from 3.30-4.30 pm.

For working parents, ‘Teatime Club’ offers a later pick-up time at 5:30.

During lunchtimes children have opportunities to take part in several other clubs throughout the year.

Breakfast Club

We want every child at Stebon to start the day with everything they need in order to learn effectively; a fundamental element of this is a healthy, filling breakfast. The chance to socialise with peers & adults, to keep fit & play also play an important role in readying children for the day ahead.

We are currently running a breakfast club every morning from 8am. This gives every child the opportunity to start the day with healthy food in their tummies & a smile on their face.

Children can arrive any time between 8 am and 8.40 am and they will be offered a selection of healthy breakfast options: a variety of cereals, porridge oats, bagels (with a variety of fillings), juice, milk. A great way to start the day!  The breakfast club benefits from support from the Magic Breakfast Mayor’s Fund for London Project.

All food served at breakfast club is halal.  We also cater for different dietary needs.

This gives every child the opportunity to start the day with the right fuel for learning.

Breakfast Club costs £1 per day for one-off attendance and £5 per day of the week for a term.  Children can come for any number of days each week, please contact admin@stebon.org.uk to sign your child up.

Saturday School - SHINE @ Stebon

We are delighted to host a Saturday School here at Stebon. Having started in January 2015, we are now in our eighth year. We have 60 spaces for children from Y3-Y6 who enjoy learning new and different things on a Saturday. We take advantage of our freedom to learn what we wish; we visit exciting places on trips and have wonderful experiences every week.

So far we have been on an adventure day to Gillwell Park, visited a show about animals as well as going to the Natural History Museum and a trip to Buckingham Palace. We don’t waste a minute – our future plans include drama workshops, a cycle cinema and a trip to Shrek studios!

Saturday school at Stebon is part funded partly by Shine, Poplar Harca & ourselves. The key is that we learn new things in fun ways. It’s giving our children chance to ‘Shine’.

“I love Saturday school. I have made so many new friends” Y5 child.

“They get up earlier for Saturday school than they do Monday to Friday!” Parent of two Saturday School attendees.

“Saturday School is so relaxed and fun – it’s how I remember learning when I was at school.” Member of staff.

Stay and Play

Parents of nursery children are invited to stay and play in the nursery with their children once a week. Stay and Play time is usually advertised in our weekly newsletter. They may also bring younger siblings with them. Toy packs are available for parents and children to borrow each week.

Services for Families

We employ a social worker two days a week to work with families who would like support & can arrange to host a drop-in with a family adviser from the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The family adviser can help parents with issues around food, sleep, behaviour at home or any parenting issue they are concerned about.

Family Engagement Officer

Our Family Engagement Officer offers support & guidance for families & signposts other agencies & services to them. She is full-time & can help with a range of issues from housing to domestic violence, secondary transfer to benefits; if she can’t help then she’ll know someone who can. She also arranges and delivers regular workshops for parents including the Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities course, ESOL and plumbing!

Our Family Engagement Officer is Chanel Ahmed; she can be contacted on cahmed@letta.org.uk
